What is the maximum number of addresses that can be sent to at the same time?

There are no restrictions. You can send unlimited tokens to as many addresses as you want.

What does "Approve tokens" mean?

Because DApps use smartcontracts to execute transactions, you must give permission for the smartcontract to transfer up to a certain amount of your token (called an allowance). The smartcontract will only ever be able to transfer the amount of token you approve. This is done, in part, as a security measure for ERC20 token holders.
